As the area flooded with gold and silver mining in the 1800’s, we began as a blacksmith and wheelwright shop serving the mining communities of the Sangre de Christo and Sierra Mojado mountains of south central Colorado. As the mines slowed down, our beautiful valley grew into a ranching community and we changed to serve the needs of the ranchers and cattlemen.
Once located on Main Street in the buildings as you now know as Chappy’s and the Brookwood Gallery, the hardware store was in desperate need of a larger facility. In the late 90’s Paul & Hope Wenke built the 30,000 square foot building with an indoor lumber yard, contractor center, rental and service center, and paint match and mix machines.
We pride ourselves on having a wide variety of selected inventory to serve ranchers, homeowners, home builders, small contractors, do-it-yourselfers, pet owners, and equestrian and outdoor enthusiasts. We will continue to stay focused on meeting your needs and we will bring the same level of service that has sustained us since 1885.
